Why are these mechanisms in their infancy? Should we not be learning more about these methods and developing them instead of relying on single solutions such as Cap and Trade?<\/p>\n<p>Market mechanisms are emotional as well as logical \u2013 so some way is needed to explore the idea of emission curbing market mechanisms taking into account both the economic and emotional dimension.<\/p>\n<p>What is needed is a way to experience first hand the dynamics of such a system, in an environment which stimulates experimentation and learning,<\/p>\n<h2>PURPOSE OF SIMULATION WORKSHOPS<\/h2>\n<p>The emissions fees simulation is designed to give participants insight into<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The dynamic relationship between market      forces and emissions<\/li>\n<li>The role of clean tech in the market<\/li>\n<li>The market price for <a href=\"http:\/\/avbp.net\/?p=1293\">emission model      developed by Anders H\u00f6glund<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>WHO THE SIMULATION IS FOR<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Government officials responsible for      emissions trading<\/li>\n<li>Politicians interested in market      mechanisms for cleantech<\/li>\n<li>Executives at cleantech corporations<\/li>\n<li>Environmental activist organizations<\/li>\n<li>Ethical and environmental investment company executives<\/li>\n<li>The Media<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>THE WORKSHOP<\/h2>\n<p>The workshop is based on a game simulation developed by the sustainable development consultancy, A Very Beautiful Place.<\/p>\n<h2>OUTPUTS<\/h2>\n<address><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-523\" title=\"simuation_startscenario\" src=\"http:\/\/avbp.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/simuation_startscenario-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"simuation_startscenario\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avbp.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/simuation_startscenario-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/avbp.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/simuation_startscenario.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><br \/>\nThis diagram shows one starting scenario \u201cbusiness as usual\u201d. Ambitious reduction goals are set, emission fees are quite high, but participating firms are not reducing emissions, even though they are making profit. Profits fall as emissions fees rise. This does create some revenue to be invested in clean-tech however.<br \/>\n<\/address>\n<address> <\/address>\n<p>The game can be played at its simplest level as an introduction to cleantech, emissions fess and market forces.
